NRTS Scholarship Exam 2023: The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha will be conducting the National Rural Talent Scholarship (NRTS) Examination 2023 for eligible students at various centers across Odisha state in September 2023 (Tentative). This scholarship exam aims to identify and support talented students from rural areas of Odisha.

The BSE Odisha will release the NRTS scholarship examination Notification, Apply date, Admit card issue date, and will hand over the Result/Merit list to the concerned District Education Officers.
Rate of Scholarships
- Selected students will receive Rs.250/- per month for 24 months while studying in Class-IX and X with satisfactory performance.
Examination Fees
- The NRTS Examination, 2022 fee is Rs.60/- per candidate.
Eligible To apply for the Odisha NRTS Exam 2023
Only students who are currently in the 9th class are eligible to apply for the Odisha NRTS Exam 2023. Additionally, students belonging to the SC/ST category must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the 8th class annual examination, while other students must have secured at least 60% marks in the 8th class annual examination.
Caste & Income Declaration
- Students must provide a declaration from parents stating their caste as SC/ST/SEBC.
- SEBC students must provide an income declaration from parents confirming their annual income is below Rs.1.5 lakh.
- The candidate’s category will be mentioned in their Descriptive Roll.

To apply for the Odisha NRTS Exam 2023, follow these steps:
- Visit the official website of Board of Secondary Education, Odisha at www.bseodisha.ac.in or click on the direct link given in the post.
- On the home page, look for the “Odisha NRTS 2023” link.
- Click on the link to access the application form.
- Fill out the application form with accurate and complete details, including personal information, educational details, and contact information.
- Upload scanned copies of the necessary documents, such as your passport-sized photograph, signature, and mark sheet of 8th class annual examination.
- Review the filled application form carefully and verify all the details entered.
- Submit the application form online.
- Take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.
- Submit the printout of the application form along with the required documents to the Head Master of your school or Head of Institution.
- Pay the application fee, if applicable, through the online payment gateway or any other payment method specified in the application form.
It is important to note that only the Head Master of the school or the Head of Institution can submit the application form on behalf of the student.
Selection Process
- Students will be selected for the Odisha NRTS scholarship through a written examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
- The examination will cover subjects like MIL, Mathematics, General Science, and Social Science and will be based on the Class-VIII syllabus.
- The examination will consist of a composite paper of four sections, each section carrying a full mark of 25, and the total mark being 100.
- The questions will be of multiple-choice type and answered on an OMR answer sheet by darkening the right answer out of four options.
- The log-in authority will enter the correct option against the MIL subject, and the candidate’s answer will be valued as per the scoring key of the MIL subject entered online.
- MIL subjects entered incorrectly cannot be corrected at a later stage, so the log-in authority should be extra cautious while doing the online form fill-up.
