OSSTET Examination Details 2023
I. Examination Structure: a) Paper-I and Paper-II constitute the two papers of OSSTET. b) Individuals with the necessary academic and training qualifications under Category-I take Paper-I, while those under Category–II participate in Paper-II.
II. Test Duration:
- Each paper has a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
III. Question Format:
- All questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark.
- Four alternatives are provided for each question, with one correct answer.
IV. Paper Sections:
- Each paper is divided into four sections.
V. Language Requirements:
- In Section-I, Odia is compulsory for all post categories.
- In Section-II, English is mandatory for all post categories.
VI. Language Variation:
- In Section-III, questions for TGT (Arts) and TGT (Science for both PCM & CBZ) are in English.
- Questions for other streams like Classical Teacher (Sanskrit/Telugu/Urdu) and Hindi Teacher are in respective languages/scripts.
VII. Language for Paper-II (Category-II- Physical Education Teacher):
- Questions in Section III are in English.
VIII. Common Language in Section-IV:
- Questions in Section-IV covering Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management, and Evaluation are in English, compulsory for both categories.
IX. Negative Marking Absent:
- There is no negative marking.
Qualifying Marks
- Minimum pass mark for each paper: 45% (68 out of 150 marks).
- Individuals scoring 45% or more in each paper qualify for OSSTET.
- SC/ST/PH/SEBC candidates have a lower pass mark: 35% (53 out of 150 marks).
Issue of Certificate and Mark Sheet
Successful candidates receive the OSSTET Pass Certificate from the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha (BSE, O).
Validity of OSSTET Certificate
The OSSTET Pass Certificate remains valid until the candidate reaches the upper age limit for teacher recruitment, following government rules or executive instructions.
Number of Chances
No restrictions on the number of attempts to acquire the OSSTET Pass Certificate.
